What is NERS ?

NERS is the National Electricity Registration Scheme. This is administered by
Lloyd's Register on behalf of the national Distribution Network Operators (DNO's).
Contractors accredited by the scheme are allowed to carry out contestable
connection work.

What is contestable work ?

Since the privatisation of the electricity industry, all new connection work
can be undertaken by a NERS accredited contractor.
Developers can now request quotes from contractors who have this
accreditation (known as Independent Connection Providers or ICP's).

Can PJDS arrange everything ?

Yes - PJDS can offer you a complete package from the Network Design
through to final adoption by the DNO.

Are there any up front charges payable to PJDS ?

We can provide you with an estimate based on your development site plan
for free, however we require a full Electrical Network Design Plan and
Point of Connection (PoC) application for adoption by the DNO to provide an
accurate quote. As fees have to be paid by PJDS in advance to the DNO for
the PoC / adoption applications and for the commission of a full Network Design
Plan, these fees will be payable up front where applicable. It should be
noted that these fees will be payable whoever undertakes the work.

What if I have paid PJDS for a Network Design Plan and PoC
but have decided to use another ICP to carry out the work ?

Whilst we hope this would never happen, should it be the case then the
Network Design Plan and the PoC become your property and therefore you
can use them as you wish. You will not have to pay for these again.

Are there any advantages to using an ICP ?
